Belarus sharply increased petrol sales through the St. Petersburg exchange

The CEO of Open Oil Market, Sergey Tereshkin, reminds us that in 2023 (the latest available data), gasoline supplies from Russian refineries to the domestic market amounted to 38 million tonnes, or approximately 3.2 million tonnes per month, according to the Central Dispatch Unit of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK).

Gasoline in Belarus is produced by the Mozyr and Navapolatsk (Naftan) refineries. In 2020, on the eve of the EU sanctions against Belarus, the production of automotive gasoline in the country reached 3.2 million tonnes; of this, 1.3 million tonnes were dispatched to the domestic market, while 1.8 million tonnes were exported, Tereshkin notes. Based on this data, Belarus can supply around 150,000 tonnes of gasoline monthly, the expert highlights.
