The government will impose a ban on the export of petrol from Russia for its producers starting from 1 April 2026. This was reported by two sources from "Vedomosti" familiar with the outcomes of a meeting held on 27 March with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, which was later confirmed by the government's press service. One of the sources specified that the ban will be in effect until 31 July 2026.
In the statement from the cabinet, it is noted that Novak instructed the Ministry of Energy to prepare a draft resolution to prohibit petrol exports from 1 April 2026, aiming to stabilise prices and ensure priority supply to the domestic market. During the meeting, oil companies confirmed the availability of sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel fuel, as well as high capacity utilisation rates at refineries to meet domestic demand, according to the statement.
